Chateau Lafite Rothschild is located in the Pauillac wine region of Haut-Medoc in Bordeaux, France. It is one of the top five first-class vineyards in Bordeaux, France. Balance and suppleness are the characteristics of mature Lafite, with classic black currant, pencil lead, cedar and mineral aromas, rich layers, rich and elegant, tannins are exquisite and strong, and the aging potential is very long. Some people think that the characteristic entrance of Lafite red wine has a strong oak taste. In addition to the signature red wine Lafite, the winery has also established a second brand of Los-Vasco in Chile, mass production of low-cost red and white wines, and actively expand the mass market.
Wine Region – Bordeaux
The grape planting area is 200,000 hectares, with an annual production of 1.6 billion bottles of wine. Around 90% of the total AOC-grade wine is produced in this region. It produces blended wines based on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
The red wines on the left bank of Bordeaux mainly use Cabernet Sauvignon, with high tannin content, high acidity, and strong aromas of blackcurrants and blackberries. Most wines have toasted oak barrels. Generally speaking, the aging potential of the wine on the left bank is more than 10 years; after the aging period, the aroma of cigar box and cedar can be developed.
The wine grapes used on the right bank of Bordeaux is mainly Merlot. The tannin is moderate and high and the structure is not as strong as that of the left bank. The taste is supple, the flavor is rich, the alcohol content is high, with complex red plum and the aroma of plums.
In 1855, in order to promote the French wine culture, the King Napoleon III of France at the time ordered the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce to rank the wines of the Bordeaux region.
